U’Luvka vodka (pronounced ‘you-love-ka’) comes to us from Poland. The distillery itself is one of the oldest in the country, but the vodka’s history can be traced back to the 16th century. As the story goes, in the Polish Royal Court of Sigismund III an alchemist named Sendivogius was commissioned to develop ‘a vodka of the finest purity and the most exceptional quality to be enjoyed by the Royal Court’. Following the brief, he created U’Luvka. Over time the recipe was thought to be lost to history, until it was rediscovered and recreated by Elzbieta Goldyka. Today that recipe consists of 50% Polish rye, 25% wheat, 25% barley, creating a distinctly creamy vodka housed in one of the most distinctive bottles around.
