M/S Akluj Sangiovese Rosé 2017 at 11.99 bottle.
This is a joint venture between Piero Masi, a Tuscan winemaker and wine writer, producer and innovator Steven Spurrier, who founded the Wine Society of India on one of his frequent visits. They met through Kapil and Gaurav Sekhri, whose winery owns about 95 hectares of vineyards, planted over three sites, in Akluj (Mahārāshtra), on the right bank of the Nira River about 170 kilometres south of Pune. The climate is sub-tropical but the altitude of 650 metres gives cool nights, which ensures the grapes retain their freshness. This 100% Sangiovese is a vibrant rose-petal colour, with aromas of summer red berries giving way to the light, refreshing palate.
Herdade Do Peso Sossego Alentejo Rosé 2018 at 9.99 bottle
This 160-hectare property has been owned by the Guedes family since 1996. It is situated in the southern part of the Alentejo, on the limestone soils of Vidígueira. As this is the warmest part of the region, the Touriga Nacional grapes for the Rosé were harvested early. Cool fermentation in stainless steel preserved the fruit flavours of the wine. An attractive cherry pink in colour, this dry Rosé has fragrant cherry and red berry aromas and lively acidity.
El Coto Rioja Rosado 2018 at 9.99 bottle
From one of Rioja’s best-known producers, this rosé is a Tempranillo/Garnacha blend from vineyards across the Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Baja regions. Cool fermentation at 14-18 ºC in stainless steel helps retain the fruit aromas, resulting in an aromatic, easy-drinking rosé that is dry to off-dry in style with notes of candied raspberries and strawberries on a crisp fruity palate.
