O. Fornier B Crux Valle de Uco Mendoza 2007 at £16.99 bottle. Deeply coloured, a big brooding nose of cassis, black ripe berries cedar wood & a touch of liquorice. Silky palate with layers of ripe, juicy, black fruit, supple tannins & a long finish.

Rockford Basket Press Shiraz Barossa Valley 2005 at £40.00 bottle This is serious Barossa Shiraz it has a rich deep colour and shows little in the way of age, it is starting to drink now but could be tucked in the cellar until 2020. The nose is splendid with lush, ripe bramble, black cherries and other juicy black fruits, on the palate the structure from supple tannins is evident as are the medley of black fruits,  magnificent, we are happy to have the Rockford wines back in stock.

Rockford Rifle Range Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley 2005 at £27.00 bottle Deeply coloured red with cassis & bramble along with background cedar wood on the nose, On the palate it is an harmonious joy, nice & complex with mature ripe blackcurrants plus a nice tannic structure and a hint of integrated oak.

Rod & Spur Shiraz Cabernet Barossa Valley 2008 at £25.99 bottle This is a great Aussie blend that really delivers, I often get the complaint that Shiraz & Cabernet should not be blended as they are from different areas of France! Well I beg to differ the Bordelaise in there wisdom Hermitaged  their wines they added syrah (shiraz) from the  Northern Rhone to improve their wines!!  There is a huge amount of darkness in this wine with a little chocolate & coffee action coming into play. The flavour really hits you rich & warm black fruits, complex & the tannins pull it very long in your mouth.  For an 08 this is really balanced with no over ripe flavours but there is warmth.

Rockford Moppa Springs Grenache Mataro Shiraz Barossa Valley 2007 at £21.99 bottle This is a typical Rhone style blend Mataro more commonly known as Mouvèdre. Again the reassuring deep colour plus a brilliant bright nose of ripe cherries, a whiff of cinnamon spice & rich fruitcake, very yummy. A joy in the mouth full-bodied, yet lively with dark ripe fruit & supple tannins needless to say that the finish is long.

France

La Côte Flamenc Picpoul de Pinet 2010 at £7.99 bottle Delicate, dry crisp white, nice white spring flowers on the nose & delicate stoned fruits in mouth refreshing a spring & summer sipper

Spain

The nose is fragrant & enticing with ripe fruit and dried fruits mingling with spice, vanilla, cocoa and cedar wood. On the palate it is ripe & rich great structure & complex with supple tannins making an appearance it is very enjoyable now but could be kept longer.

Cune Pagos de Viña Real 2004 £55.00 bottle This superb red was produced in one of the finest vintages in Rioja for a decade although 2001 was good 2004 was exceptional and this classy red is produced from grapes rigorously selected from the vineyard around the new Viña Real winery between Laguardia & Logroño make this the pinnacle of the Viña Real range. It is sumptuous & concentrated wine with intense aromas of dark fruit, toasty spice & balsamic savoury notes.
